new 268 cams and mapping....

Recommended Posts

It is fine to re-use the old nuts, but be VERY careful when tightening them - if you go much above the recommended torque setting you'll snap the studs.

Also, the bearing caps have to go back on EXACTLY as they came off, both position and orientation. I found it easiest to lay them on a piece of paper one by one as I removed them, in the exact positions & orientation as they came off the engine.

I had a relatively lightly modded VR... exhaust, air filter, before I had my 268 Eurospec cams put in. After the cams and remap I got a total of 12-15bhp with an increase in 1 lbs/ft peak torque but less torque lower down the rev range, which is normal. In total I now have 207bhp and 194 lbs/ft peak torque.

You'll need the remap to get the fuelling spot on otherwise you could be prone to pinking.

other than 300 map at stealth, is there anywhere alse i can get a chip based on my mods for less £££?

i kno a rr map is much better, but im a bit unsure with the near future plans for the engine, and dont want to waste 300 incase i do anything else major cos il have to just get it mapped again....

Its worse with a chip if you add more mods...chips are fare more "in-flexible"...meaning they can only handle certain mods...once you add more you dangerously put your engine at risk of pinking etc... meaning you have to buy a totally new chip and have it installed again...a lot of hassle. A remap is far better mate...as you only need to do it once ..then "adjust" your map when you add more mods in the future. Stealth's full custom map is the same price as a superchip. Good value if you ask me.
