VWC 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Share Posted August 12, 2009 when you got your car mapped was it done in a day or did you need to leave it also is a lager maf housing nessisary mapping wasnt straightforward remember obd1 ecu so theres alot of trial & error to get it rightit can take around 6-8 hours from scratch but theres road testing etc involved so may need more time to nail itin the end found an enlarged 105mm housing along with a tt maf sensor was best Link to post Share on other sites

VWC 0 Posted September 10, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 10, 2009 hows the new engine feeling its getting close to the big day nowEngines good closing in on 2000 miles will be there by Saturday and the Dyno next week to get results - im going to run it on the same pully first to see what the old bottom end was giving upIts all running well no major issues' date=' cold start is a bit rich for first 10-15secs but that can be tweaked, idles nicely and accelerates well in all gears can feel the power it wants to give but just fustrating that I cant open it up yet holding at 3.5k rpmThought I would add some pics of the car for a change - cleaned it properly for first time in 2 years...[img']http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j272/b5vwc/06092009374.jpg Link to post Share on other sites

VWC 0 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 16, 2009 how did the mapping goWell it was okay until the Matrix popped so had to leave it, also quite a bit of front engine mount movement so could be the cross member bushes need to get both sorted - sounded mental tho :-)Managed just 15psi so could be some boost leak will check all the pipework plus the map/timing was all set to safe so wont know now till i get it back on again and finish it properly Link to post Share on other sites

VWC 0 Posted September 17, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 17, 2009 not decided on when i will get it dyno'd yet as the matrix is a big job sits behind dash so will take a day for me to sortthe heater matrix & bushes are just one of those that will go eventually after 14 years / 125kthe engine side of things is fine should be able to trace boost leak and cant test its okay on the road using my gauge Link to post Share on other sites
