traction control light

Recommended Posts

Drive slower round corners.

:)

The light will flash when the traction control is correcting you, and it works by braking the correct wheels to keep you pointing in the right direction.

On wet days with that tourque you can well end up spinning inside wheels on corners, or driving through a puddle on a motorway can trigger it as 1 wheel suddenly is going slower than the others etc.

unless it does it while driving at a steady speed on a striaght road its probably working fine.

Some things can make it more sensitive - the rain in particular, but check your tyre pressures are right, if it persists and you dont think its right then it'll eb worth getting your tracking checked.

Or live dangerously and just turn it off...

you push the button marked ASR or ESP depending what system you have. Mk5 its down by the gear stick, mk4 its either there or on the dash. I think some mk4 switches are marked by a triagle with an exclamation mark in it.

It doesnt acutally turn it totally off, its still there just a bit.

Its a pain cos you cant left foot brake in an ASR / ESP car. (unless you take the abs fuse out but that would just be daft ;))
