amit 0 Posted June 12, 2004 Report Share Posted June 12, 2004 ive noticed ever since i bought my vr. the fan comes on quiet a bit. If i drive it hard well.....thats understandable, but even when i leave it to idle for a while. I had the thermostat changed about 6 months ago and had the coolant renewed. I was thinking about the flushing out the radiator but aint too sure on the procedure. The fan kicks in around about 90ish and then around 100ish.Also.....i ve been told to get a neuspeed thermostat??? any help appreciated. Link to post Share on other sites

Further comments were to remove as much of the shielding as possible on the top of the engine as this will prolong the life of the leads and the coil pack. andy 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Report Share Posted June 13, 2004 mine went pop when the electric fan seized! fan cuts in and out all the time now, much happier. the fan should still come on and off at idle amit as there is no air flow through the rad, at least when you're driving hard you're getting a lot of air through the rad and arround the engine in general. this is why cars generally overheat when they're stuck in traffic, massive heat build up and no air flow Link to post Share on other sites
wilko-vr6 0 Posted June 13, 2004 Report Share Posted June 13, 2004 my fans are always coming on!i reckon everytime i switch off they kick in as well!my needle never gets to 100!mine always sits just under 90.these engines give off masses of heat,hence why it's so important to regularly change the oil in them!also worth checking your electric water pump works,too!i found mine was all broken inside when i checked mine prior to going down to devon!now runs a tad cooler!
