Any ideas why my steering wheel vibrates at 70-80mph

Hello,

Around town the car seems ok but as soon as I took it onto the motorway the car /steering wheel vibrates quite badly.

I guess the front wheels may need balancing but could it be anything else?

yep had the same with mine!

YEah mine did it at around 90-100 but since having new lowered suspension and consequetnly the tracking and balancing done it is now fine.

Thats great, thanks for the replies, I'm going to get the wheels refurbished this week then get them balanced.

Bad people all breaking the Speed limit in this lovely country. :-)

As has already been sadi balancing should sort out the prob. If you are refurbing anyway you should have no probs :-)

just another thought, check for play on each wheel, could be a lose hub nut or worn wheel bearing? might aswell check if ur jacking car up anyway...

Warped discs can do the same thing as well

the whole car will shudder under braking if it's your discs, and you'll feel it heavily through the pedal! Could be wheel bearings as gav_vr6 says but it would drone like f@*k if they had got bad enough to shake the car/steering. I would agree with mk3anni and eat this, that it's the balancing!
