Pittuf 0
I'm still learning how to clean my car, it ain't been washed for a week and a half and as such was quite dirty, loads of bus, general dirt and a few blobs of bird shit.Bugs no probs, got the hang of that, just scrub the front end of the car first, wash down, then wash the car as normal. However when I go to leather down, I can still see the bird crap marks, bugger!Have now learn't that I must scrub these hard first as well!Bit of a pointless post I know but, what the hell [ Edited ][ Edited ]

speedo 0
This may sound realy sad, but i have found that owning a black car is a PAIN to keep clean... I have to clean it once a week `at least`The other prob. is that as it`s dark, it streaks... so i rinse of the soap as i wash it, and it dont streak :?
acf8181 0
ok. i be the expert on this i use zymol shampoo and zymol cleaner wax from halfords. i've used mnost other products over the years and found it the best. autoglym doesn't give as shiny a finish, and is harder work to use. meguiers creates a lot of dust and doesn't make as shiny.always read the back of the bottle and follow the instructions exactly...different waxes require different techniques.if you use decent shampoo all the dirt should come off. if a bird ever does its business on the car get it off immediatly, it damages the paint.as for extra stuff, autoglym fast glass is my preferd at the mo for glass, they also do a glass polish, but it creates too much dust. i also put rain X on the screen...if you've never tried it, put some on then drive down the motorway at night in the wet (everyone else will have their wipers on full, and you won't even need yours! i shit you not)i use autoglym vinyl and rubber care for the trim. better than back to black as it looks more natural. acf8181 0
i should've actually sai...zymol (form halfords) is the best stuff that the average person can afford. if you're loaded go for either proper zymol (£40 a tub), or even better is swissol (£70 a tub).
Eat this 2
i wash from top to bottom il wash a section (roof boot bonnett etc) then il rinse it straight away and chamios it then do the next section seems to stop streakin it takes me about 2 hours to wash polish hoover and treat the leather ( my misses does the inside)

[/quote']Take pity on my I now own 3 black golfs!!!!!!I wash mine in parts starting with top half of car then I go round and do the sections and I always wash the foam off before it dries and streaks. Then I do my wheels by this time the cars is semi dty so I have a turtlewax scraper thing or wonder wand which is a great tool for getting the car dry and then I can wax the car all over. I hate shammies so i never use them.My b/f retails concept products which are great, the wax doesn't go white if you accidently hit any plastic bits which is ace
acf8181 0
i alsways wax, and never bother drying the streaks off as the wax gets rid of them for me
Pittuf 0
Never wash in direct sunshine if possible, by 7:30 in the summer evenings my house casts a shadow over the drive, perfect time to wash the car :-)

VRmonster 1
back to the bird poo issue. lol. if bird poo damages paint, then what would cat poo do? ha ha. cos a neighbours cat has been on my roof and bonnet and scratched fk out of them, and left a nice poo on the roof. gggrrr. im not interested in cleaning tips now, ive sorted that, just want to know how to remove the cat.... being an electrician i was thinking about putting some tinfoil in the garden with 230 volts across it, and putting a bowl of milk in the middle. lol. but the kid next door finds his way in there to collect footballs n stuff, hes a pain, but not that annoying, lol. dont wanna go down for manslaughter.[ Edited Tue Jun 15 2004, 07:28PM ]
Eat this 2
240 volts wont harm him but it would sure giv the cat some incentive lol i fix tvs btw if u rigged the eht lead up to a trap tur in buiseness 25 kv and it bloody hurts trust me
wilko-vr6 0
i use zymol.i tried meguires and found it nowhere near as good.each to their own i say!i always follow the instructions to th bottle and my car looks stunning!i get more complements about the paint than ever having changed to it.the thing i notice you need to do with zymol is to "balance" the wax after applying it with a damp cloth!i then wash the car with zymol shampoo and hey presto!one smooth looking vr!!!!!! 8o)
binliner 0
surely you should wash it first?
