Electric Superchargers

Recommended Posts

An interesting concept, but wouldn't the fan blades form an obstruction in the intake when the motor was switched off?

Available charge in the battery would limit the duration of the boost anyway. Sure, this is not a problem for the dragstrip, but a Nitrous kit wouldn't work out much more expensive, and these can produce short bursts of +50 to +100bhp to the Electric Supercharger's +15bhp.

Given the potential output of a NOS'd VR6 (especially if already running a Schrick manifold & cams), I'm surprised more people haven't done it.

That looks like a PC cooling fan! Can't beat mechanical forced induction - until Renault perfect their pulley-less, Camshaft-less, 24V engine technology that is. They've currently got some seriously hi-tech kit under development at the moment..... watch this space.
