well i personally would rather shove live wasps up my arse than buy a jap car, most people who have them are little old ladies and a seemingly gathering crowd of semi bald 40 something old men with a dozen failed marriages and a la coste t shirt and trainers trying to hold on to youth by haviing a car with some shite graphic and a spoiler on it, then standing in toys r us car parks on a tuesday night with some spotty dix in corsas giving it "yeah yeah its 5 handred orses g`uvnr" i would still rather have a 20 year old mk1 gti any day. the japs can blow me!

I completely agree, Jap cars really do suck.

Sure they are quick, but the lack and form of class and the interiors are bland. I cannot see myself ever owning a Jap car except maybe a 350z as they are kind of smart and are a v6 ;)

As for vr6's not being quick, its all relative. Most hatches will dust a VR off the lights, especially modern hatches, but as soon as a VR gets into its stide its a very impressive car i think. I love catching people out when they think i am gone! 1st and 2nd they think they have me, as soon as I hit 3rd I reel em in! Not much can match a VR for motorway pace.

People that say they are slow must be judging them against modern hatches, most modern hatches will destroy a VR upto 100 and on tight bends and backroads, but I would still rathar drive my VR, never misses a beat and such a nice solid car to drive :)

im with antera309 here but the only thing i would say is dont fear the uk spec scoobys, i have raced severaL and went past several, off roundabouts etc they are quicker but if you get em on a straight rd from say 50 or 60mph they are passed in 3rd no sweat, a lot of the time when people race on the road ( or go for a run would be a better way of putting it really)its down to the driver and the road conditions (time of day, weather, amount of traffic etc)ahead, so its hard to come out and say for instance that you beat say an fq340 or something when in reality the muppet was maybe scared of it or felt the road conditions didnt warrant going any harder, people who think vr6s arent that fast or dont really know what a vr6 is ( not many vr6s over here so those not into vws tend to know bugger all about them) generally get a wee shock when they see them go lol even when i got beat drag racing with (on paper) faster machinery at bishopscourt it was never by that much really and the crowds seemed to appreciate this fact when they talked about the cruise on the forums...got plenty of jap driver respect for the vr6 after that summer hehehe! ill see if i can get a link to the photos of bishopscourt cruise, a legendry cruise in ireland north and south with head to head racing on an old airfield

locals being tortured by noisey cars on the roads late into night, although remote there are a few familys who didnt like it and were of sufficent standing to be able to stop it but that said it lased all summer and ther previous one too, is a legendary cruise here, so much so that people still bring rumours of its starting up again onto the local forums all the time! there is now a monthly drag event ( swrc) on the near by genuine motorsport track which is attracting plenty of cars now, incorporates a race series, and a drift series too, all for £8...excellent stuff, prices arent too bad either for time attack (fastest lap) or the drag racing. still get underground stuff here on a fairly big scale which can be real good, everyone likes cars in this country!lol sunday nights cruise night here and every towns busy, sunday nights at bishopcourt were mad as it was a fair distance to travel to so the run home was a race track at times hehe!

the u.k scoobys arent that quick, 200 brake ish standard, they obviously corner a lof flatter on standard setup, i just bought a vr instead of a scooby, and the main factor imo is that the vr is a lot better built, feels more solid, and is a lot more reliable for the money, nick ure a funny geeyzer, but i can see ure also very knowledgable, u have to appreciate that a company like subaru is very heavily engineering led in the methodology and approach to car building, but again like ureself, i want a car that i can drive and enjoy every day, without bits of trim falling off, squeeking interiors and the like, if i was going to spend 8k it wld definately be on a late subaru impreza classic, sti ver 5 or 6. but for now, for the moeney ive spent, and most importantly, the way superior build quality , i know my vr is the better car all round..

yep goonersteve scene here is pretty much bangin, head out into the country and every other road junction has about 30 circles on it from the rwd crews ( corrolla twin cam coupes cult car here, e30 sports and m3s main cultprits lol) and all the shows arfe well attended, club gtis show was serious this year few tidy vr6s at it including a real tidy red one from enniskillen area on a euro vibe, few dubs from here were on the jon44w.com stand at edition38, black euro bora with surf board got a wee prize there.

vr6newcomer do you not think tho these days even if you did have a scooby you really neeed to be running big hp these days to cut it, most scoobys here are stupid bhp but the owners spend more time than enough rebuilding engine, gimmie the vr any day for everyday driving, no reputation to be shredded like the scoobys do, we call it cossie syndrome!
