Earwig 89
I think standard is about 7.1 and 140ish.....Could be wrong though :-)Mark.
Eat this 2
yep they are standerd qouted figures
mike 6
have heard 7.6 in some places but il go with 7.1!!!
crosser 0
my old cosworth was i think 6.8 standard so not a huge difference in it then
Eat this 2
somebody tested an obd1 vr agaisnt escort cossie (possibly autocar) they got 7.1 from it the cossie obviously annihalated the vr 0-30 mph BUT (and this suprised me) from any speed above 30 mp to any speed (including top end) the vr either matched or beat (not by much) the cossie lol
matth76 1
have heard 7.6 in some places but il go with 7.1!!!Probably the earlier obd1 that has 7.6 and the later obd2 with 7.1.I too have generally heard 7.1 as the quoted figure though.140ish is the standard top speed. crosser 0
so just as quick as a standard cossie but with reasonable fuel bill... only sold the cossie as it was terrible on fuel and her indoors didnt like it as it scared her in the wet as 2wd... not to reliable either... Luke 0
0-62(100kmh) is 7.8 on the book,9.0 dead on the auto! top speed book is 140mph,got 147mph out of mine but speedo is inacurate at that speed i think :S
mike 6
yeah 7.8 in the book wich works out as 7.6 to 60. doubt the extra 11bhp on the obd2 will shave off a full half a second but possible. VW do tend to put conservative numbers in the book tho
craggsy 91
so just as quick as a standard cossie but with reasonable fuel bill... only sold the cossie as it was terrible on fuel and her indoors didnt like it as it scared her in the wet as 2wd... not to reliable either...Now that would be scary in a 2wd cossie
crosser 0
it was m8... her indoors took it to work once and was home 10 mins after she left and chucked the keys at me and said she aint driving it no more... apparantly she span on the a34 at 40 mph and shat herself... luckily she didnt hit anything.. shes looking forward to picking up the vr on saturday, just hope she finds it a bit safer in the wet.. matth76 1
so just as quick as a standard cossie but with reasonable fuel bill... only sold the cossie as it was terrible on fuel and her indoors didnt like it as it scared her in the wet as 2wd... not to reliable either...Assume you're talking about the Sierra Cossie and not the Escort? As the escort came with 4wd. The earlier Sierra Cossie came with rear wheel drive which would be scary! But fun (if controlled properly). Ian at the Phirm is getting one I think. The VR will be far safer in the wet, mainly because its fwd and far less power. However if you take a corner or roundabout slightly too fast you'll oversteer all of a sudden... I know as I did without warning...easily controllable though, but was only doing 20mph.. it was very wet."her indoors"... lol
crosser 0
yes m8 its was an 89 2wd sierra... god i miss that car... just picked up the vr today and my first impression was god this is gutless but once on a dual carraigeway as soon as it hit 4k it flew... very impressed.. her indoors said its nice so cant be bad as shes a fussy cow.... Eat this 2
vr has a VERY diffrent torque curve to a turbo lump it sounds 50 times better than a cossie though hehe
crosser 0
i have to agree there m8, sounds awesome.. just want a decent exhaust now as its to quiet... gdm in brackley said they will make me a handmade stainless system for £275...

6potmkII 0
i hit the limiter in 5th @ 148mph in my mk2vr, 0-60 defenatly in the 6's.... and chargers goin on 2moroEat this - vid doesnt work for me for sum reason
Eat this 2
standerd 5th gear limiter is 159mph on a vr i think
Luke 0
mine hits the limiter at about 150mph in 5th,needs a 6th gear & im sure it would do 160mph
Eat this 2
iv had 150 on the clock and no sign of the limiter
6potmkII 0
i dont kno why but, 1st and 2nd gear atleast iv managed to get the revs higher than when it hit the limiter in 5th if that makes sense. basically it felt like the limiter came in slightly earlier in 5th....not that i realy care that much, how often do you do 150mph, as long as it gets to about that region fast, thats all that counts. id settle for 130mph if it accelarated raipidly to it...whats the standard mk3 vr6 box geared to in 5th? (capable of top end)
Eat this 2
159 mph iirc and i agree thats why the 3.68 diff is a popular mod it multiplies the torque more and makes you accelerate faster
