gazchill 0
Hi,I've got 205/40/17s on my Mk III Golf. The rear arches have been pulled out by the local body shop to stop the them rubbing but I still get a few sounds when driving on bumpy roads - which there are loads of where I live.I think the tryes are now catching on the rear bumper - On the trye tred.Any suggestions ? - Apart from getting smaller wheels :-)Thanks
mannie 0
The sound that you hear are made by the tyre in contact with the inner wheelarch .what bump stops did you used ?
gazchill 0
Hi - I've had the wheel arches pulled out so I dont they are are touching. If I put some weight in the back of the car the tred of the wheel starts to catch the bumper. The car has also been loweredl, not sure by how much as I've only just picked it up. It seems pretty low and has a Koni kit on it all round.
spindat45 0
I have the same problem on mine occaisionally and I know a few other MK3 owners who have had the same problem when there is a lot of weight in the back. If you've had your arches rolled but not pulled then it probably is the bumper rubbing just below where it meets the wheel arch. You could try raising the height of the car a bit and or stiffening the damping (if adjustable) or having the arches pulled a bit more. This should move the bumper away from the tyre. You should be able to tell if that is where its catching as the outer edge of your tyre tread will have wear marks on it Kevin
mannie 0
Rub some chalk on the bumper lip , go over bumps or until you hear rubbing, and check if you got any chalk marks on your tyers.
