[poll] quafe and 3.68 fd or schrick

Recommended Posts

Depends what sort of driving you do. If you go on Motorways / wide open A roads a lot, I'd say the Schrick, definitely - it moves the engine's torque peak down to 3000-4000RPM, which is 70-100mph in 5th.

A lower final drive will enhance low-speed acceleration at the expense of top end cruising ability. If quick 1/4 mile times are your aim, this might be a better route.

A lower FD in combination with a supercharger is devastating! But expect huge fuel bills!

I've done ALL VR6 scenarios except turbo, but that's now in progress.

I can say without a shadow of a doubt the Diff and 3.68 is better money spent than the schrick.

You really need to experience that quaife doing it's magic to fully understand it's appeal. It gives astonishing cornering grip.

The 3.68 does not affect motorway cruising in the slightest. All it does it put 5th in a more useable rev range. The engine is no noisier and economy suffers to the tune of 2 or 3 mpg tops on a long cruise.

Don't get me wrong, I like the VGI but I got bored of it after a week and the dip in power at 4000 was a constant irritation, which not even 268s and a bigger throttle got rid of.

Yes,as said already, the shorter FD with forced induction gives mighty midrange punch. What ever gear at what ever speed, there's always good pull. Dropping to down to 4th at 70 with the 3.39 always used to bug me too....it's clearly too tall for the engine's lack of natural bottom end urge.

I'll have a stage 2 kit up for sale at a bargain price soon, comes with an 8psi Stealth map and also 12psi pulley. Got figures of 290 and 320 respectively. Only OBD2 I'm afraid, unless you sort your own OBD1 software.
