"25:00 vag chip off flea bay???

Recommended Posts

these are usually copies of known make chips.. had on on my 200sx and it was ok, overfuelled a bit , but much better than some of the so called custom mapped chips..

for 25 quid maybe buy one, plop it in and do a rr power run. that way u can asses the power/torque and fuelling content.

might be a winner

vr6virgin, the chips for obd1 only, i havent been able to find any generic type obd2 chips as yet.

This sounds interesting even if it just takes up the top speed and raises the revs and at least its not bigging itself up to much with regards to bhp .

I would also be interested in fionding out more about this.

cheers

virgin

could be tricky as theres no point raising the limiter if the fueling and ignition timing isnt correct for the higher revs...

i geuss if there over fueling a little, better than running lean

The chip he's selling is definitely OBD1 only, and is almost certainly a "bootleg" copy of an off-the shelf chip that costs a lot more. It would probably work just as well as the chip it was copied from, in the same way that a "cracked" copy of Microsoft Office 2003 downloaded for free off BitTorrent works just as well as the one your mate paid £250 for at PC World.

In fact, I'm tempted to buy one just so that I can return my ECU to naturally-aspirated settings myself if I decide to take the supercharger off...

I purchased one of these yesterday just to see how good it is. Thought that for £25 i would take the chance. I will try and get it on the KWP at work and read the map and compare it to a standard one just to see what has been adjusted. Will let you know...

Utter shite imo, you will be better off putting a McDonalds chip under your bonnet! stick £25 of Shell Optimax in your car! and enjoy it, all these quick fixes for bhp are a load of testicles, exhausts, filters, head work, or cams or a proper remap are the only ways to improve on standard bhp unless you go charged :)

Fair comment, and i agree with you totally. However, as KEVHAYWIRE mentioned on the engine tuning forum, these could be a duplicate of another chip that people are currently paying good money for. I know of 2 tuning companies, that will be known to you guys, that do the exact same thing as the bloke on ebay. They are also very highly rated tuning companies, but because you dont know what goes on behind the scenes you assume that you are getting a "custom" map/chip for your car and walk away happy.

I'm sure that there are people on this forum who have spent a lot of money thinking they are getting more when infact they have just recieved the same thing the bloke on ebay has done. To be fair to him, he has great feedback, and from a few VR6 owners.

Someone on here must have bought one already, any feedback?
