Remap for a 93 VR6

Recommended Posts

mrc tuning are good too they are audi specialists but did my custom remap with good results

So good you dont know what they are cos you've not had it on the rollers yet!!

what are you talking about??

i had the car on awesome gtis rollers a few weeks after the remap hence i know what the wheel figures are the reason they didnt give me corrected flywheel figures (not 100% trustworthy imo) is the software was knackered and threw wildly diffrent figures out

minas old car was there too with huge variations on the corrected figures

OK' date=' so you've had it in the rollers.....what are the figures??????

its not all about the figures its about the look of the graph as all figure can be played with due the settings on rollers (like ambent temp/air pressure)as well as the "power at engine" is all a guess due all cars have differing frictional losses .best way is to use power to wheels but still take with pinch of salt just look at graph for smoothness and fuel mixure...for ture figures you would need to remove engine and test it on test bench

they can fiddle the corrected figures by adjusting ambient temp etc etc but afaik the wheel figures are far more accurate is the actual physical measurement is torque at the wheels (bhp is calculated from torque and rpm bhp = toque x rpm / 5252) ps my figures are 175 lb ft and 178 bhp both at the wheels ( i apply a rough tranny loss of 18% this gives approx 206 lb ft and 210 bhp corrected flywheel figures) my 1st rr day at stealth gave 29% tranny loss which would give 225 lb ft and 230 bhp which is just a bit dubious hehe

Sorry guys didn't mean to cause a heated discussion.

My VR has Ram air kit, remus back box, coilovers, will have a decat next week but the engine has only just been rebuilt and will be going back in next week....

So what do u guys think I should get as regards to a remap.

Hi Dan

Stealth are the best to go for for a remap. There are others out there that are also good but Stealth is one of the most experienced when it comes to mapping vr's. Their remap is £300 (which is very good in my opinion as its the same price as an off the shelf superchip but far far better as its a custom one to suit your car). Your car, being an OBD1 golf vr should definitely benefit from Stealths remap... I would estimate a 10-15bhp gain...more if you have an enlarged throttle body butterfly too. Stealth are based in the midlands just south of birmingham but well worth the trip - all done on a rolling road so will check your car over and give you your power readings at the same time.
