I thought that as the US had lower octane fuel their chips had less ignition advance. Ask him how much maximum advance he gives and compare it to the likes of Stealth. If this chip has low advance your car will be slower. That was the problem with GIAC chips, they were not configured to UK fuel until recently.

thx for the info guys, ive had a reply back already..he says for 150 dollars inc postage back he will remap my ecu to run on uk fuel, the site shows gains of 20ft torque and bhp up from 174 to 191. not bad gains if they are true. ill shall ask the question about ign adv etc, and see what he says. the company is inmotionusa.com take at look at the european pages and tell me what u think. im assuming these are a generic map. even so , will work out cheaper than a chip from the likes or superchips , does stealth perform a live map??? im not intrested in bhp btw, its the torque i want . i also assume this remap should/would work well with my new 6 branch and stainless system/ramair filter.??

thx jim

alternatly does anyone no of a uk based company that does'nt want 350 + quid for what im sure in most cases is a generic remap or reflash of the orig chip.

Stealth do the best remap (far far better than any off the shelf chip)... cost is £300. However I really wouldn't bother with one as you won't gain any power at all if you have an OBD2 vr. Once you get cams or bigger mods then a remap is a good idea. A standard OBD2 vr actually has around 185. The earlier OBD1 has 174 and has a totally different ECU (which does benefit from a remap). However the OBD2 ecu is very good and adapts to minor mods very well. I asked all of this to stealth as I had exactly the same mods as you at the time and Stealth said any gain would be very minimal. However I had to go for Stealths remap as my car was pinking badly after having had my chains done - otherwise I wouldn't have spent my money on it. But the gain was literally only 2bhp. Not worth it mate unless you have bigger mods.
