BMC CDA PARANOIA!!!!

Recommended Posts

Fitting one tomorrow (if it stops raining!! :@ ) but am worried about sucking up rain etc. Cold air feed was gonna be in the usual bumper vent position but keep thinking that driving head on into rain could have a very bad ending!!! :-d Any one got any experience of this happening?

Cheers in advance

The standard filter has an air feed that is exposed directly to the front of the car (albeit a small air feed) and that was designed that way. The BMC is not a lot different but more efficient. If the factory had a similar design set up they can't be wrong.

I wouldn't worry mate. It will not suck in cold water at all.

I agree mate...I have a BMC and havent fitted the cold air feed. Stealth rolling roaded cars with and without the cold air feed... no power difference at all (the rolling road sessions all had cold air blown from the front of the car - as a normal rolling road session should - with the bonnets closed). Agree with you...the sound is awesome when you floor it above 3k revs!

I'll third that, under a tunnel, 2nd gear, awwwwwwwwwesome sound, like a really angry german dog.

Also, i don't think the sucking power is really gonna be string enough to actively suck enough water up the pipe, through the filter, up the other pipe and into the engine.

Leave the pipe, keep the noise and enjoy!!
