The relays are located behind the fusebox cover on the drivers side lower facia panel.

to gain access to the relays remove the fusebox cover. Prise the trim panel from the top of the facia panel then slacken and remove all the panel retaining screws. Release the retaining clips and lower the fusebox out from the facia.

If the relay is working you should hear it click as the circuit is energised. If this is the case the fault lies with the components or wiring of the system.

If it does need replacing the relay is in position 8 for intermittent wiper/wash.

I had to fix my washers/wipers this morning, the fuse kept blowing. Found a short circuit in the washer jets, where the bodyshop hadnt fitted them in properly after spraying the bonnet.

Seriously, tho, I must admit I ain't that impressed with the golfs combination switches.

The rear wash/wipe is tricky to say the least and I often turn my lights on to find my full beams on cos I've flashed someone and they have switched on :-(

I push mine away from me and the rear wiper starts, when it has done what I want I push the stick away from me again, the rear wiper wipes again but then stops, does yours not do this, has it ever worked properly?

It took me a few goes to work it out, and I can't push it twice quickly to turn on and off either, another gripe I have with the sticks ~:(
