cav 0
Project No. 2! well, it has been long overdue now but here it is. My new mk3 1.8 8v (same model as euroism)(in the ebay add)couple of dents in the wings after a weekends work.....then the rear wheels were in bad shape, lacquer peeling off etc.. so i nitromorse'd them and gave them the once over... and as you can see... i'm really pleased (just a little curbing now)Well plans for the future are the same as my last one really.. with a couple of twists. also having a few detailing lessons tomorrow which i can't wait for. Full wash, clay, cut, polish, wax and protection! see how it turns out! Updates to follow.

cav 0
Ok, i have been after detailing the car for a while.. have a few lessons etc before i buy all the stuff needed. so, after putting a post out on detailingworld.com a kind member showed me the way... here's a picture story board... how it started... scratches on the paint. swirls all over the car! first stage, shampoo it up... then wash down using wool wash mitts..rinse....then it was time for the first major stage, claying. When we first started, it was really hard to clay it... as the surface was caked in crap... by the end it was smooth as a babes bum as you can see the paint is in a bad way, still lots of scratches etc (brought out more once washed after claying...but looking lots better already.. then it was time to mask up the car ready for PC'ing it (porter cable - polisher) using a hard pad and meguiers No. 83 (quite abasive) we set about it...but after a test patch, we realised that vw paint is thee hard f**kin paint going... so stepped up to a harder pad. this did work to a degree, but next week will see a harsher product put to use to completely get rid of all swirls etc... but still a very good finish after, polish, wax and sealant. as you can see.... overall very pleased with it.. couldn't believe the difference! the paint just pops now.. so much depth to it! no doubt more pics next week when we get to grips with the rock hard paint! cav 0
as for the wheels... they were lacquered... so all i did was to brush on nitromorse, which in turn bubbled off the lacquer. then a quick buff and there you have it.
Kaz 0
Such a transformation!! I need to get me some Megs 83 for my porter cable, my Sonus stuff just can't cut VAG paint!Looks top mate.
cav 0
with the 83, it didn't work too well on the VAG paint.. i need to get a harsher compound, but once it is cut, 83 will be perfect for the job, also after 83, pass it over with 80. work a treat
mike 6
Looks like its coming on nicely loving those wheels
cav 0
update time... nothing too special.. new wings fitted... as it was... dents on both wings...the crap behind the arch...quick degrease and power washand now... a lot better and shiny Also ordering 15mm spacers for the front wheels, as they are too far in. Also concentrated on the bonnet detailing wise... lots of scratches in it... gonna be repairing the stone chips on it this week as well. pics to follow. cav
