Gibs20 0
I have just bought a sony cd/radio headunit (CDX GT200) and fitted it, already had the iso-plug block connectors so plugged straight in - fine. Only problem is it only works when the engine is OFF! Soon as i start the engine it turns off, stays off and when you turn the headunit back on after the engine is off it has reset all settings. The previous head unit did the same thing which was one of the reasons for replacing it! Please help, any suggestions/help appreciated!Cheers, Tom
Eat this 2
my guess would be something along the lines of the head unit negative lead being connected to ignition live hance when the car is off the ign lead is 0v the unit is grounding itself through some other means but when u switch ign on it raises ground to 12v if it is that its no good for the radio
shail 0
When I installed by old sony I had to swap the yellow and red wires over for it to work properly - I think this is what Eat this is saying above.
mk3anni 0
The red and yellow are Perm 12v and switched 12v.No idea what Jons on about.

Gibs20 0
I don't know bud, how would I find out? I just connected the unit with the isoplug block connectors, they are like 2 plastic blocks with all the wires in and they just clip together :S Someone told me I need something called a PC2-18-4 adaptor......!? Does this make any sense to anyone?
at007 0
is it the ignition barrel to the stereo failing?it seems to be the barrel is it through wear and tear where the connection inside the barrel is not connecting when the engine is on and the key does not engage for the power of the radio
Gibs20 0
I hope I don't need a new ignition barrel! I had to fit one of those to my old 306 and it was an absolute bastid of a job! Im going to try and sort it tomorrow so will let you know how it goes!
at007 0
just had mine checked it was the barrel because switch the engine on and the radio still did not work twisted the key back to the left a little bit and radio and engine stayed on.
