i just brought my VR6 on a N 96 with 73000 on the clock, i know it is chain driven, but can anbody tell me when i need the chains looked at or serviced.

the chains will need doing when they start to rattle, you can hear them rattling on the right hand side(gearbox side) of the engine, it isn't the actual chains that rattle its the guides wear out so the chain becomes loose, they seem to last till 100k or even more sometimes, but depending on past servicing it might need it earlier
