dstyrrell 0
i enquired to these guys about exchange engines and got this e-mail back, thought it maybe of interest to some of you, after seeing some of the quotes people have had for timing chains for this price you might aswell just get an exchange engine with guarentee.Dave Thank you for your recent enquiry for an engine for a VW Golf VR6 2.8 or 2.9 litre 1996We can supply a fully remanufactured, service exchange complete tested engine for this vehicle at £1295.00 + Vat. Both the 2.8 and 2.9 litre engines are priced the same. The engine is in stock and available for next day delivery. The unit carries a 12 month / unlimited mileage warranty for both parts & labour. If the unit had a problem concerning component failure or remanufacturing fault during the warranty period, then we would repair or replace the engine and pay for all relevant labour charges at any garage in the UK.Delivery charge is £50 + Vat. This charge also includes the subsequent collection of the old unit.No surcharge is raised at the time of supply. However,if the old unit is not returned within 28 days or the unit has a holed cylinder block or incomplete, then a surcharge will be raised.I hope this quotation is of interest to you and I am looking forward to hearing from youKind regards,HarveyPrestige Engine Products LimitedBroughton GreenDroitwichWorcs.WR9 7EF01905 391007sales@prestigeengine.co.ukwww.prestigeengine.co.uk

dstyrrell 0
Thats what i was thinking after my post about selling the VR yesterday i'm having second thoughts, with exchange engine prices this bloody cheap i might just run this engine into the ground and then swap it for a 2.9 engine. Steve i have made my mind up i'm keeping the VR, i think that i was obviously suffering momentary madness.
IbiVR 0
what do they do with the remanufacturing - whats replaced?tbh the parts for chains are about £200, the cost is in labour, and if you can swap the engine yourself, then you can do the chains yourself. If not then the labour of swapping the engine on top of the cost of the engine makes doing the chains a much cheaper option.Tom.
