brock 0
Hi all,Ive recently bought a vento vr6 and was just wondering what kind of temperature should the oil and coolant be at once running? I am only asking because although i regularly keep and eye on these two I have noticed that my coolant temp will vary rarely rise above 75 degrees (unless im on a motorway run in which case it will be about 90) and the oil temp doesnt really go above 80ish (generally this is just when im pootling along i.e. not driving like i stole it ;-) but even when i drive a little harder they both go little higher but soon drops back down to the mentioned levels again soon after). Are these normal behaviour or something to worry about? I was just wondering cos I thought maybe the VR6 would run a little warmer then that? Many thanks, Brock
duncs 0
hi brocki think there have been a few threads on this before, and some VR's run cooler than others.my '95 golf VR runs at about 75 max, so like yours, and oil is around 92. the figures overall don't tend to vary regardless of how i drive the car and it's still running sweet with 117k on the clock.happy ventoingduncs

purple highline monster 0
mine runs between 75 and 90 and oil temp has been upto 109 after a blat! not a good time to change it!!!
SankysVR6 1
My water temp needle is bang in the middle all the time regardless of how driving it. The oli temp is some where between 90-105 dependent on driving condtions.Have a llok under the bonnet and listen out for the aux water pump is running this should stay running after you've switched the engine off for about 10mins.If that is fine it might be that themostat is sticking open at times. And make sure your cooling fans are coming are working
brock 0
thanks for the advice sankey....If my thermostat is sticking is there any chance of long term damage?and yes after turning my engine off there is still a burbling as the coolant still pumps around...... after the first time I drove it back after buying it and turned the engine off when I got home I was a little alarmed and thought I had broken it already until I realised its meant to do that LOL
SankysVR6 1
Not Sure if it would cause long term damage. But if it was sticking open it would probably cause less damage then if it was sticking closed. This is hypothetically speaking thou.Best to get it checked over first.PS and make sure the cooling fans are working and there is no water leak near the water pump area.(Air filter side bottom)
Russ_vr6 12
mine runs at 70 degrees, then goes up in traffic, oil runs at 88 ish average drivingif u change the thermostat mate change the stat/coolant temp sensor housing, and the temp sensor 4 the ecu coz im my experience it usually brakes if ya dont change it
