harry 0
thanks chaps, its safe to say that my vr ownership will be ended by this latest problem (heater matrix) my young family must come first, and the price (potentially) from awesome is mad to say the least. This car has been absolutely fantastic in the 4 years ive had it from my brother, ive had some mega bills (awesome) and cant justify this one on my obd1 93.I will have to fix it in my leisure now, but need a ride for work.Im totally destroyed by this, i will repair it correctly and then sell her. THE VR6 IS DEAD, LONG LIVE THE VR6.......
thegoth 5
It is easy enough to bridge out the heater matrix using some plumbers copper piping shaped into a U. Not the most ideal solution at this time of year, but at least she will run. Mine's coming up to it's second winter like that, brrr...Just be carful not to leave the hoses too bent, twisted or constricted otherwise it'll over pressurize.TG
stockers 1
as above, i paid £200 ish to have my matrix changed on the old car, its about 4 hours labour, if you are in hertfordshire i can pass on my mechanics number if you like.
samwilko 0
It s not difficult to do mate, just a ball aching task. I paid £36 for the matrix and did it myself in a few hours. You dont need to take out all of the dash, just the bottom half.
