Jk* 0
As some of you may of read im having some serious troubles with my VR and running problems. After the AA came on Wednesday they reckoned it could of been the split breather pipe or something to do with fuel starvation. So, i replaced the breather pipes today and still nothing. Syntoms are:Car starts, then cuts outOr Car starts idles quite lumpy then when revved sounds like its running on 2 cylinders and pops a bit then diesAny advice as the car is currently stranded about 4 miles away from my house! Thanks.
Chrisdut 0
how well does it start?do you get the normal chuging type noise while its trying to start, or does it just sound like its spinning over with no compression then gets better and better
Jk* 0
Its starts fine sometimes, then after about 10-30secs just dies. Then sometimes it starts a dies after about 2 secs, sounding like its misfiring or something.
mk3anni 0
Get it on vag com.Sounds like it could be a crank/cam sensor

mannie 0
You can also use a hand held OBD II code reader , with that it will give you an idear of the generic cause of your problems .
Jk* 0
Just need to find someone/somewhere that has one then.

shail 0
When mine was stalling / running rough the problem was a corroded wire in to the MAF sensor plug. Two of the wires were cracked at their base where it goes into the plug. Quick to diagnose / rule out. PS I had it VAG Commed and it came up with a faulty MAF sensor
Jk* 0
Thats what mine has just come up with, faulty MAF. So i shall be ordering one of them and cross my fingers!
shail 0
Cheapest MAF sensor I found was at GSF for £70ish on exchange. Before you change the MAF check the wires to the plastic plug which fits onto the MAF. May well save you some cash.
Jk* 0
Yeah, did check them but no luck, GSF have one, even though they wouldnt let me have it!!! Its a long story!!!
Jk* 0
The car is now fixed and running sweet thanks to a new MAF from GSF and VAG-COM from VR6 ABSY!

Jk* 0
Yeah, see the above couple of posts, i replaced the MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) Check it first by removing two or three jubilee clips. The sensor inside should be in one piece and slightly angled down towards the metal part so when the air comes through the sensor is pushed down to create a circuit. Also, check the wiring that goes to the MAF. A new MAF will set you back about £80 from GSF.
