adam_christie 0
Well the engine bay's too small on a golf isn't it? Maybe that's the reason they plopped it into a Passat......

VR6Rob 0
Is it going to be a vr6 or normall v6?if its a vr it should fit a golf.
Eat this 2
its a vr i read that the pistons dont go down at the same angle as the con rods theyr actually spaced out at the bottom so the bottom of the bores arnt too close together VERY neat trick to keep the size down.i dont know if itd fit in the golf though

antera309 3
OMG !!! have you guys seen the R36 Passat !!! 300+BHP I really hope this means that a Golf R36 is on the way!!The 3.6 engine is all-new (not just a bored & stroked 3.2) and is a fair bit larger than the 3.2VW tried fitting the 3.6 litre engine to the Golf mk5, but there wasn't enough engine bay space left behind it for the (equally huge) DSG auto transmission. Without an auto, the Americans wouldn't buy it and the European market isn't enough on its own to justify putting a manual version into production. The same goes for the Audi TT. Like the Golf, this will only ever get the 3.2 V6.And yes, dropping the 3.6 to a Golf mk2 has already been tried. It doesn't fit. Not sure whether it's ever been attempted in a mk3 or Corrado though ;-)
