matth76 1
Any good garage will scan/read your codes and clear them for you for free. Yes your car is an OBD1. Not sure on what you will need exactly though mate if you want to do it yourself. It looks as though the scanner has the cable on it - the other end should attach to the point near your fag lighter so therefore I would assume you don't need the extra cable. I might be wrong. I assume the cable in the second link would be if you were using vag com on a laptop.
gav_113 0
the one in the second link. is to plug it in to early obd1, the plugs are different to later ones.
gav_113 0
also i went to my local garage told him my prob, he said yes i would have to put it on vag com. but he wants 40 quid plus vat just to plug it in!!!!!
matth76 1
S*d that. Like I said a "good" garage will do it for free. It takes less than 5 mins to read and clear any codes. It doesn't take a whole hour!! ..(assuming its £40 an hour labour) Daylight robbery. Take it to The Phirm or Stealth mate. I'm sure someone on here will confirm if the parts above will be ok. mannie 0
If the 2nd lead is an adaptor lead,it will have to have a female plug to the scanner male plug for it to work.
mk3anni 0
Matt not everyone lives near the phirm or stealth. It will probably cost him more in petrol than it would to pay £40 to have the codes reset.
