andy m 0 Posted June 28, 2004 Report Share Posted June 28, 2004 i have just fitted 60mm lowering springs to my car and the front has dropped and is sitting very nicely but the back has not moved at all it doesn't look any different from when i had my 40mm springs on!has anyone else had this problem or have any ideas of wot it is! acf8181 0 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Share Posted June 29, 2004 theres a brake bias valve attched to the rear beam...when the car goes lower it moves the brake bias rearwards, presuming the boot is filled with extra junk. but if you lower a car, the valve assumes its the boot laden, so moves the bias rearwards, but this is a prob as there isn't actually any extra weight so the bias is too far rearwards and you snatch the rear brakes. to be fair, its not a big issue with abs, but if you dont have abs you can soon be going backwards under braking.worth noting only obd1 cars have the bias valve, i think, but the kits are designed for the whole range, and were probably designed originally for obd1 cars. andy m 0 Posted June 29, 2004 Author Report Share Posted June 29, 2004 yeah thats wot i thought about it having to settle down but if it is that then the front is going to need to settle as well and that will mean that the splitter will touching the floor!i compared it to nickbee at junction 29 meet and his sat a lot lower and his was only 40mm drop!i'll try and post some pics and you can see how stupid it looks! six appeal 53 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Share Posted June 29, 2004 You sure you've put the springs in the holders at the top correctly, that just ain't right!Only other thing I can suggest is that the springs are not for a VR and so the front weight has pulled it right down. acf8181 0 Posted June 29, 2004 Report Share Posted June 29, 2004 wow...thats not right.forget my bias valve idea, somethings not right there.springs are prety much settled after 5 mins, it may go fractionally donw after a week or so, but not enough.is it all put back together correctly? that'd be my first check. if thats fine, then find some part no's and go to the manufacturer of the kit. dubloke 4 Posted June 30, 2004 Report Share Posted June 30, 2004 i dont think they sit lower at the back once lowered! definately summat wrong there, my rear shocks were fubar when i put my -60mm apex kit on and i measured the before and after heights and it still went down 25mm at the back! you can see the bottom spring cup for gods sake, dont drive it till you work out whats wrong, i would check that the parts are on the right way round to start, looks like summats arse about face!
