blondie 0
NOt long now till the engine is running properly! THrowing petrol everywhere, wud say the fuel pump is up sh*t creek. Then onto changing lights and putitng the grill bk in. Thinking of getting rid of the chrome and having it resprayed to fulfill the euro look. Thats just for starters aswell. Too many things I want to do with so little time! Photos to follow
blondie 0
Pretty much got all the engine back together now. Few lil bits missing (like on my rocker cover!) Have air box onthe way then hopefully fingers crossed it will start. Will keep adding pics as I go along.[lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1168249040_2640_FT148101_pc160008.jpg][/lightbox][lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1168249040_2640_FT148101_pc160009.jpg][/lightbox][lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1168249040_2640_FT148101_pc310029.jpg][/lightbox]

blondie 0
its sooooo much work putting a vr in. PLus I've heard that even if u do manage it, if u gotta work on it it needs to come out. Wud love a VR in there.
Petesvw 0
What about the G40/G60 lump? A good alternative imo. Tried and tested too, seen a few now!Have heard that the 1.8t can be a bit of a dissapointment? Can allways get jabba to do ya a tasty stage 4 charger ; )
blondie 0
I dont kno much about a 40 or 60. How much work are they? Are they hard to work on? How many pennies wud u b looking at at buying one?
Petesvw 0
With 'em been a mk2 fitment, i imagine they will be a hell of a lot easier to transplant then a 1.8t lump! http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?146601As for cost, not too sure there! Have a scan on ebay, classifieds in the VW mags etc.Thease are the guys to speak to about 40's + 60'shttp://www.jabbasport.com/
Russ_vr6 12
i most def would say g40,much easier conversion and makes for a bloody fast car.....
purple highline monster 0
get a 1H rallye engine (its got beter internals than the other G60 units) and stage 4 the charger at Jabba, 285 cam chip and 68 mm pulley, will give you around 220 bhp in a mk1......catch me if you can time for all! that will cost about 2k mind and you need the ecu and wiring harness fusebox etc and a lot of know how, would be one mean car though, this is how you get a VR in a mk1 though [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1168384923_2067_FT148101_mk1_vr6.jpg][/lightbox]
Petesvw 0
Not wrong about that been a tight fit!
blondie 0
PHM- I didnt understand a word of that!! Laymans terms pls lol Bear im mind I am going blind at this, never done it b4. Conversion virgin
blondie 0
Money isnt an issue. After Petes comments yday i statred researching. Found the G40 to be a sweet lil engine so think I may go with that. Looked at Jabba site and checked out g40 oc and g60 oc and they all have had work done there. Seems the place to b
purple highline monster 0
PHM- I didnt understand a word of that!! Laymans terms pls lol Bear im mind I am going blind at this' date=' never done it b4. Conversion virgin[/quote'] ^o) sorry, forgot you was blonde only kidding mate, the 1H engine from a rallye is good to put in a mk1, uprate the camshaft to a piper 285 degree one add a chip to the ecu and a slightly smaller pulley to the g60 charger after its been ported and had new seals and bearings and belts, i had all this done on my Rallye at Jabbasport and can highly recommend them, James and brian did all the work to mine but mike was always around
blondie 0
Did u put the engine in urself or was it there already? Im being swayed (once again!) with the G40 instead of G60. Yeh I am blonde, but Im game to learn and learn from my mistakes! I cant say fairer than that! Young and willing lol Where is Jabba?
purple highline monster 0
the engine i had was already in my Rallye! I just had it worked on by Jabba, it is a worthy addition to a mk1 and more readily available than a G40 engine (dont forget the G40 isnt much more powerfull than a standard Gti) Jabba are based near peterborough, i made a 2 day trip of it when i went there, i stayed at the local hotel!!! had too my car was in bits!, and imo its always nice to find a young willing blonde with a few nice cars (that was lee made me say that )
Petesvw 0
Back to blaming lee again nick, 'eh!Never stand up in court that mate "pervert with duct tape made me say it"!!! ; )Ditto what nick says tho kerry, 60's are easier to come by! You got to make sure they been well maintained tho, as i know back in around 2000, they only manafactured around 18 that year!! Might be an idea to give jabba a call and get advice from the pro's : )
