What have I done?....I've sold my car

Recommended Posts

I can't believe I'm writing this :(

I've been made an offer I can't refuse - I wasn't even thinking to sell. We've got a verbal agreement - he's even got the banker's draft ready.

I'm really regretting this now - gave it some stick on the journey home on the M6 - the way it accelerates past 160mph still surprises me !amazed

Everthing on the car is A1 perfect - nothing needs repairing/replacing.

I just guess it's time to let my head rule my heart - I know I wouldn't get the same kind of money in 12 months time.

Mina :(:(:( x) x) x) :(:(:(

A 300bhp Golf is gonna be a tough act to follow, Mina.

I'm sure we'll all be getting to know your buyer on here in a few weeks. ;-)

Are you gonna start a new project or are you out of the modding game now?

To say I'm shocked is an understatement! It has to happen to us all eventually, I know that after nearly 5 years of VR ownership I may well be parting company with mine soon.

Good Luck Mina, hope you'll still come on and help us all out with your advice/experience!

Well, congrats on getting good money for it - I think VRs are going to be a bit of a struggle to sell very soon.

Shame to sell it so soon after you've got it really sorted, but hopefully you'l have fun starting from scratch with something else.

Good luck!

There's nothing wrong with them! :) But there are several things which will push the vaule down over the next couple of years:

- The price of mk4 turbos will start to come down to realistic levels soon, and that will have an impact on VR6 prices.

- There are now a few other hatches with similar power to the VR whch will be common on the second hand market soon, so the VR will not be the 'only' choice.

- Maintenance and running costs will inevitably begin to rise as the cars get older (the newest ones are 7 years old now) and buyers will be afraid of some potentially very large bills on the horizon.

- The price of fuel is, on the whole, increasing and the economy factor - the VR6's achille's heel - will become more important when people are choosing cars.

Taking all that into account, I'm afraid to say resale values of VR6 are only going to go one way. If you're planning on ever selling your car, I'd do it soon.

What a sad day and spooky day.

Just get back to mine - and suddenly the alarm starts playing up. Now you might think I'm losing the plot - but I swear it was as if the car knew it was being sold and it was its way of telling me - maybe it was a last cry for me to change my mind!???

Anyway the car is now parked in my garage - but only because I'm going to the Clifford Dealer in the morning to get the alarm fixed - I didn't want to leave it upto the new owner.

Yes - I'm really gutted about having to sell it - but there will be other cars - probably not as quick tho!

I'll still be in the VW scene and I'll still post on the forum - it's a great bunch of VR6 nuts here!

Love and peace

Mina
