SiGainey 1
I agree - get some nice fully synth stuff in there
Seademon 0
Cool - would that be a driveway job on ramps or a proper garage job?
SiGainey 1
Defo a driveway job - if you can change engine oil, you can do box oil. The box oil stinks to hell and back thrice so get some rubber marigolds and a tool like this (http://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZviw2227QQhtZ-1) from ebay. Some synth fluid aint much £££ from a factors and it'll be well worth it. Swap the oil over, drive round the block, park somewhere level and open the filler plug and fill it till it overflows, then put the plug back in. Sounds WAY more complicated than it is - it'll take about an hour to do in total if you take it real slow....Quick guide here http://www.gti-vr6.net/wiki/index.php?title=Change_transmission_oil
Seademon 0
Cheers - I might aswell do this when I change the engine oil aswell then, doesnt sound too difficult.Whats the best stuff to use? Ive not changed the gearbox oil in any of my cars before, tends to get overlooked! Thanks
SiGainey 1
Redline is meant to be good. I use valvoline fully synth as I can get it from Euro car parts for not a lot of £££. I think it's 75W90 that you need, but someone more knowledgeable can advise. If you're feeling particularly generous, just grab some cheap comma oil, fill it, run it for 50-100 miles then swap for the good stuff - gets the swarf / old cr*p oil out in the cheap stuff and leaves it clean for the good stuff
Bigjobbo 0
Good advise about the cheap oil and running it inI'd get a clean drip tray so you can re-load any oil dropped because the drain plugs are a bit of a git.
SankysVR6 1
I've changed mine to Redline MT-90 as it comes highly recommended for the VR. The only problem is that it's a mail order item.I got mine from demon tweeks.Theres a good how-to on the Corrado forum if you need it.

Seademon 0
How much oil does the gearbox take? Is Redline MT90 an additive? How much should I be putting in of what?Im completely in the dark with gearboxes!Cheers

Steve @ 1
Redline and Silkolene are both good oils for the box. Oilman stocks silkolene and demontweaks for the redline. You'll need 2 litres for the Vr box.
