Recommended Posts

drive home down a pitch black lane i hear a loud noise then i lose power steering. great i thought my serpentine belt has snaped so managed to cut what was left of the belt of drove home. then i had to drive it to work to fix it on the way to work the battery started to die (it was raining) lost my wipers then the car started to over heat so pulled over to let it cool down went to start it the battery was dead so call one of the lads from work they came down with a battery.got to work in the end orderd a belt then when i was striping the tensioner doen ready to put the belt on the pully was well not there any more the pully was seized and what was left of the pulled was all melted.so i had to order a new pully but no you can only buy the whole thing as a unit. what a day a few pic below. while it was all apart i stuck my polished manifold on :-p

same happened to me, car made a terrible grinding noise! the water pump fell to bits and belt got ripped into a million bits, also after i noticed noise from tensioner, took it apart and it was bone dry, greased it up and its mint now!

That looks bad.

Lucky for me i just lubed the bearing a couple of weeks ago' date=' It was completely bone dry in there.

Any pointers as to how to do this?

Found it - http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?155363

Couple of pointers.

After you have removed the belt, it migt be a good idea to loosen the bolt that holds the bearing in place while the tensioner is still attached to the engine, unless you have access to a vice.

And also remember that it is a left hand thread on the bearing bolt.
