Roan 0
I remember reading a post about someone who got theirs re-trimmed from a guy in Germany off ebay. If you do a search I'm sure you'll find it. Looked very smart with stitching in colour of your choice I think.
Focker-out 0
Try looking for a 3.5 cab wheel, contrary to popular belief they are a direct fit with a mk4 GTi airbag, vast improvement over standard
Eat this 2
lol thats what i want
vr6newcomer 1
yeah, the 3.5 cab wheel does go straight on, looks cool as well, similar to a standard mk4 wheel, but its a case of finding one!!!
Focker-out 0
Took me two years to find one!!!But i have looked at something else, there is a SEAT part no on the wheel too, which leads me to believe that the Ibiza Cupra 20vt until 02 plate MAY share this steering wheel too. gavinvr6 0
is it not possibly to just re-dye the leather? i mean there must be A product out there that classic car restorers or someone similar use or could reccomend for a budget tidy up job, just asking coz mines looking very tired
Roan 0
This is the fella I was referring to earlier (found on ebay Germany. Someone on this forum has used him before and was astonished by the good quality/service.http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Lenkrad-Golf-III-3-GTI-VR6-16V-TDI-Lederaustattung_W0QQitemZ200099619534QQihZ010QQcategoryZ53947QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD4VQQcmdZViewItem

Roan 0
My new steering wheel/gear knob & gaitor and handbrake gaitor arrived today (see above) (seller posted on 2 May but held up due to Parcelforce). Brilliant quality like I expected, and fitted it looks even better. I thought I had paid too much, but the new leather feels great and the wheel is a bit thicker to hold :-# & feels like a Focus ST wheel, which I love.
vr6newcomer 1
no dude, the standard wheel looks like its off a bloody bus!!
descb600f 0
What happens about putting an air bag into the steering wheel from eBay I thought those things were fastened in with shear bolts to stop you doing that
Roan 0
Do you mean the steering wheel? No, it's just one nut around the spindle. The airbag is two allen bolts on the back of the wheel, and the airbag itself pops off it's cable with a screwdriver.
