6potmkII 0
hi to allas above peeps, i have quite a loud top chain. i have opened it all up a i thought maybe a broken guide, but there are no signs of wear to any of the guides, and i have a brand new tensioner fitted too. but still they are loud?any body had this? when i take out the tensioner, and sqeaze it, no oil comes out so i am assuming the tensioner is not applying enough pressure. could this maybe be down to low oil presuure in the engine as there is no blockage to the oil passage which feeds the tensioner. maybe a weak oil pump or incorrect oil? (this sumtimes is the case at my work - bmw)tbh i am awaiting the weather to get better so i can take engine out an do all the chains as the car has hit 99k, but im just a little baffed about the no signs of wear to the guides at all....any healp appreciated6potmkII
VR6Pete 1,455
The chains may have stretched?
6potmkII 0
thought that but still confussed about the lack of oil pressure in the tensioner. will put my new oil pump on and an oil service, and if that doesnt solve it (which i doubt it will) new chains an guides are on order... matth76 1
My chains were still rattling even after fitting all new tensioners. The rattle only disappeared when I had all my chains replaced.
