57ORM 0
Hi Mark,I suffered the same fate,2nd hand crank & conrods required, ended up going for a full engine rebuild. To be honest the price difference between local firms and Stealth racing is not that much and for the peace of mind I sent mine down to Stealth. Don’t want anyone learning on my car if you know what I mean plus his reputation is so good why take a chance anywhere else?Should get it back mid March with a few tweaks, can’t wait last drove it back in Oct / Nov time
Copper 0
Hi mate, yes want it done right first time round as i dont want this happening again! havent driven it for a month! What tweaks you getting done? You mind me asking how much the rebuild is costing you from Stealth and what your having done?I suppose cost does depend on what needs doing, think my crank will need re-ground and the con rods looking at..somethings slightly oval i think as already changed the pump and bearings with no luck! 57ORM 0
Mods include;-BMC CDA, Schrick Mani, Schrick 268s, Raceland Mani, Full Supersprint system no CAT, 3.68 FD and Peloquin DiffGot Koni Coilovers and ARBs at home ready to put on when I get the car back. Full rebuild and fitting mods is over the 4k marker now but my crank was fooked and one of the conrods. VW supply conrods as a set but they were different to mine weighing more so had to source second hand. Plus they only had 5 2.9 pistons left so Vince is getting these from someone else, hence the delayOh well !!! Its my pride and joy and have wanted one since I was 15 so after 6 years of driving sh1t cars I finally have the motor of my dreams wasn't expecting a rebuild cost but it should run well for the next 10-15 years. Roll on March
Copper 0
Ahh a nice set up there! No doubt the Schrick stuff is whats ptting the price up somewhat lol! I have a CDA and supersprint de-cat system on mine. Works well but if were to do it again then id run a two box system as unfortunately its quite 'boomy' in the back.I'll be just going for the std rebuild...any idea on costs there? Just want a reliable engine that can take stick at times, if im honest im not too foot heavy anyway, so most of my spends will be going on cosmetics.
57ORM 0
Hi Mate,Think vince charges £2700 + vat for a standard rebuild. Might be worth looking @ a re-con engine as it is cheaper than a rebuild :-Thank you for your recent enquiry for an engine for a VW Corrado VR6 2.9 ABV 1995We can supply a fully remanufactured, service exchange complete tested engine for this vehicle at £1395.00 + VatThe engine is in stock and available for next day delivery. The unit carries a 12 month / unlimited mileage warranty for both parts & labour. If the unit had a problem concerning component failure or remanufacturing fault during the warranty period, then we would repair or replace the engine and pay for all relevant labour charges at any garage in the UK.Delivery charge is £50 + Vat. This charge also includes the subsequent collection of the old unit.No surcharge is raised at the time of supply. However,if the old unit is not returned within 28 days or the unit has a holed cylinder block or incomplete, then a surcharge will be raised.I hope this quotation is of interest to you and I am looking forward to hearing from youKind regards,HarveyPrestige Engine Products LimitedBroughton GreenDroitwichWorcs.WR9 7EF01905 391007sales@prestigeengine.co.uk
Copper 0
ahh ok, thats quite costly for a rebuild mind, suppose its the complete engine however. Im only looking to do the bottom end. VW do a new block with internals for around £800 i think.Second hand engines are going for as little as £200 !!Will investigate a little further me thinks!
