freemoyoyo 0
Hi all, i'm new to the world of vr's, just bought a 1992 mk3 and already i have a few problems, the first one being that when driving along the temp guage never goes above 70 and normally sits lower than 70, oil temp is good, normally about 90. Could it be the stat or just a fawlty temp guage ? its in the garage with a leaking stat housing which i believe is a common problem. The heaters are hot as they should be although had a hot burning smell until i changed the coolant- head gasket ?
Big J 283
i had this problem mate, few people told me to leave it "better too cold than too hot" and a few said put a stat in it. had a spare tenna so i put a stat in it last week and it runs at normal 90 deg running temp now. much better for it too. freemoyoyo 0
Yeah, the previous owner gave me a new stat when he sold me the car, hope it sorts it. cheers.
Earwig 89
Some VR's do run cooler. Not sure why. My VR and most others the needle will sit pointing straight up but it's not unheard of for a fair few to run at at a lower temp.Keep playing if you like but it's not really to much of a problem, so I would not lose to much sleep over it :-)Mark.
