Cheap suspension set up on my Vr any ideas...

Recommended Posts

Hi all ive had my 1993 Vr a few months now and thought it was time to change the standard suspension set up but im trying to work to a budget as ive got another kid on the way, so can anyone give me some ideas ive got around the £250 mark to spend ive looked at a g max kit for about £200 and would be looking at getting the top mounts and bearings done as well, are uprated bump stops a good idea has any one out there just gone down the root of springs and standard dampers oh and i only want to go 30-35mm as i live on one big speed bump. So if any one can give me some info, prices and companys that would be great cheers..... :)

I've just taken delivery of the G-Max setup. OSR shock exploded a few days ago so I need to get the new stuff on ASAP (car is handling like a dog obviously). Can the top mounts not just be re-used? Also, what price should I be paying for installation & proper setup/camber etc? My regular mechanic is off on holiday for a few weeks and I need this done ASAP. Got the G-MAX kit for £225.98 from Edworthys (less 7% from using Quidco).

might aswell replace all the mounts, bearing, bushes, bumpstops etc its only a few quid and better to do now when its all out anyway, than in a few months time when it fails an MOT on something to do with it, if you get what i mean

I've got GMAX too and they advertise a drop of 35mm. It's more like 40-45mm and it looks perfect (how it should have been from the factory) but not too low to be impractical. Should be good quality too as they're gas shocks as opposed to the common oil based shocks. Plus 3 yr guarantee so good value in my opinion.
