Ohh errr misses my car is a rattling and a banging now with my new head unit and 2 new 12" kenwood subs. But from the outside the cars vibrating its knackers off :?

Not used dynomat and things like that but if I get some is this going to help?

If you stand at the front of the car the front windscreen wipers and plastic trim surounding the window does rattle a bit but if you stand at the back of the car the OMG the wings are flexing something chronic and the tailgate bumper and windscreen wiper are vibrating so much it sounds really [img bad &|

Any suggestions as to what I need to use to calm the vibrations down ;)

Kin'ell!!! what sort of sound system you got in it for the panels to do that?..... %-6

I've used Dynamat Extreme to do the boot, rear qtrs and door panels in my mk2 and it's excellent - outside you can hardly hear it but inside the car it gives a really deep/crisp sound with no rattle. Only downside is that it is quite expensive, but some of the guys over on one of the car audio forums recommend using 'weatherproof flashing tape' you can get from B&Q! You have to use twice as thick layers for the same effect as Dynamat tho.....but it's much cheaper!!

If it's for the VR tho, I'd personally spend the money and get the pukka stuff.

Try www.caraudiodirect.com (I ordered a massive bulk pack for £150........normal RRP £220!!! 8o)

the nearside rear quarter is the main culprit in my car as i have two 10" kennys similar to yours! the offside panel is strenghened for the fuel filler but the nearside isn't hence the extreme flex in the panel on full thrap! i put two layers of dynamat extreme in there but it is awkward to get in, small pieces at a time are the way to do it! i did the same in the tailgate panel and thats okay now, i still get some panel bounce still but more will be going in soon and as for the roof, that will just have to vibe away as i'm not going down the cavity fill route again! try making an mdf floor in the boot to mount the box on too as it does dampen the vibration transmitted to the boot floor and rear panels! failing that get rid of the subs and listen to country and western instead! :-)

  • 1 month later...

Remove all the jubbings in the boot hatch, ie wiper and lock. Ram that full of sound Deadening(S/D) carefull not to break them placcy clips...more rattles. Stick draught excluder around the number plate. S/D the boot floor and all the sides, places you cant get into(especially on the L/h/s) spray foam filler in there. My sunroof winder cover is my main problem, as in a spot above my head. :( Apart from that not alot else you can do... my front wipers vibrate if I turn mine up :)

andrew- it all depends what you're trying to achieve and the sort of effect you want to create as to what subs you need in the car! one persons " cup of tea" is not going to be the next persons etc etc. the bass is only overwhelming if you want it to be, unless you're a max muppet with a "market special bass cannon", anyone with decent components/hu, can shift the balance of sound to where they need it to be for different occasions, ie driving and show use!

Because that my preference!

If it make any difference I'm now going to 2 one 12" sub but it will be more powerful than the 2 i already have but again thats what I want in my car because it my car and I can do what the hell I like to it :)
