kalv 0
Typical.. the one on the front of the engine at the bottom of the block has split and the other end that connects to the long pipe that runs across the block has corroded away... misses said the warning light only came on the dash just before she got home!It was booked in at garage on monday to fix an ABS sensor - now I got to toe it there and get him to replace the pipe - doesn't look hard to do but getting to it is a pain?Has anyone experienced this before or tried to replace it themselves..? Earwig 89
I had a couple of leaking pipes on mine. Replaced the whole lot with Samco hoses due to the cost of VW parts.I know the hose you are looking at and yes it is a pain to get to. It's made slightly easier if you remove the battery or can jack the car up and get to it from the underside. The other thing that made mine harder was those silly spring clips that were all facing the wrong way so I could not get onto them ! All replaced with Jubilee clips now :-)Mark.
kalv 0
I called the AA out so he could atleast toe me to the garage - and he managed to find the offending pipe:[lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174217608_4477_FT164991_pipe1.jpg][/lightbox]As the garage was over 10miles away he wasn't allowed to toe it so he applied a little sealer to block one end:[lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174217708_4477_FT164991_pipe3.jpg][/lightbox]and then added a hose to the other end and blocked it with a spark plug:[lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1174217779_4477_FT164991_pipe4.jpg][/lightbox]He said I could get away with driving it like this for a while as he thinks the pipe is probably for the oil cooler...?
