Last polish before re-spray, my black VR6

Recommended Posts

I took these yesterday, probably the last pics before it goes to the bodyshop in about a month for a re-spray. I spent most of the weekend in my garage cleaning it, only for it to rain within 5 minutes of getting it out! Got a few beading pics though.

Images aren't that great a quality as I had to use Windows to resize them.

The wax I used was P21S, great stuff.

I know it looks pretty good in the pics, but up close it's covered in swirl marks. I wasn't going to bother, but both sills have rusty holes, there are stone chips on the leading edge of the roof, and both bumpers need replacing. Oh, and the NSR quater panel has had paint in it's life, without removing the windows so there is over spray on the rubber seal.

I expect some of it will be flattened and re-lacquered, but the majority will be painted.

doesn't need a respray' date=' just needs the rust sortin and a full detail. spend your money on suspension and charger mate.

Suspension is sorted, it's on a H&R cup kit - it's not going any lower. Charger will be next year when I re-insure, I don't think Elephant will like it too much!

The paint is really bad, you just can't tell in the pics. In fact the front bumper is Highline black, and the rest of the car is just flat black, and you can't even tell in the pics on full res.

There are a few things that really annoy me, where the rear quarter has been painted there is a soft edge in the door shut among other things.

Nope, no silicone products used, my bodyshop would kill me if I did. I've had daily's re-sprayed before, as long as you're careful parking it shouldn't suffer with scratches etc.

how much is it gonna cost for your respray mate? just out of interest?

Not sure yet, I'm not after a bare metal job and I've had cars painted by this guy before, so hopefully it won't be too much. Around £1500 but this guys work is second to none, I also want to replace all the glass and both bumpers.

JK, race you - mine is going in later than yours though..

I spent yesterday cleaning under the bonnet, it was pretty clean already as I did it quite thoroughly when we replaced the engine - but that was months ago now. I also removed the under bonnet sound deadening, I can't believe how shiney it is under there.

Needs a proper polish, the inlet manifold finishing and the black plastic dressing. No point doing this yet as I expect the bidy shop will make a mess..
