ibizaboy 0
im really struggling to find out what is wrong with my car.i have a mk2 seat ibiza with a golf vr6 lump in it bored out to a 2.9!the problem i am having is that when i am going either slowish in 1st or 2nd or at a constant speed between 2k and 3k revs in other gears the car seems to lose power but then kicks back in. i can only really describe it as a kind of hiccup!! its as if the fuel is cut off or something and it just stops for a second and then bang it goes again. this can happen with a full tank of fuel, on a staight or around a roundabout and seems to be really random when it happens.in trying to solve this problem i have so far replaced the fuel pump twice! i have also changed the housing for the fuel pump so that it is now in the vr6 housing rather than the ibiza one. i am now clueless as what to do and was wondering if anyone had any experience or ideas about how to solve this problem. bit more info- today i drove the car from the garage wher it is kept 3 miles to my mates house and it did the hiccup thing 5 times, then i drove a futher 25 miles and it only did it twice! i then used it again tonight to do another 10 - 15miles and it did it 3 times thus showing how completely random it seems to be!when i put the engine in i fitted new magnecour leadsnew spark plugsa new air filteramongst other things

Focker-out 0
This could be something as simple as leads, coilpack. dizzy cap or rotor arm but i presume you have changed all this??This problem reminds me of my mate VR6 a few yeras back and after numerous attemps from local specialists, and i say specialists loosely, he took the car to Dubsport who found it out to be the throttle poition sensor was either faulty or needed re setting up, i cant remember which but after that was done the car drove perfectly
ibizaboy 0
thankyou ill give the carb cleaner a go and then ask my mate to inspect the throttle position sensor and see waht he can do!!im not a mechanic by any means lol so was just wondering is the throttle sensor easy to locate?
