JohnP 0
My Golf VR6 pulls to the left when driving at low speeds. But when you get up to about 100 mph, the car seems to track straight. After it started doing this, I inspected the front end and found that the right hand wheel bearing was shot. I’ve replaced both front wheel bearings, both front CV joints inner and outer, both tie rod ends, both front bushes with Powerflex units, both front ball joints and both link rods. (Wishbone to anti-roll bar.) I’ve had the car setup up on a four-wheel laser alignment system, and the car still pulls to the left.Any ideas what else can be done to try and get rid of this problem?ThanksJohn
purple highline monster 0
sounds silly but tyres? are they directional and fitted the right way? are they fitted correctly? every tyre has an "inside" and "outside" even if non directional, this is denoted by different coloured dots, usually green, red, or yellow, swap the rears to the front and see if that improves it, other than that it could be the rear axle bushes causing it to "crab" slightly? or the car may have been in a ding at some point and hasnt been jigged properly? try the tyres first as i have experienced this before, different tyres cured it
JohnP 0
Thanks for the reply. I’m running Avon ZZ3’s 215/40/ZR17’s, and have switched the rears and fronts around. These are directional, so never swapped them side to side. I also had them rebalanced when I had the alignment set. But this hasn’t made any difference.Good point on the rear axle bushes, and seeing that I’ve done the front bushes, I’ll take a look at replacing the rears. There is slight play in the tie rod to steering rack knuckle joint, but not very significant. Could this be of any consequence? ThanksJohn

matth76 1
My car always used to pull very slightly to the left too (more than it should with the camber in the road). My front two tyres were different to my back tyres. I recently had 4 new BF Goodrich G-Force Profilers fitted and now the car handles like a dream and I was pretty surprised to find my car went in a straight line if I took my hands off the steering wheel! When I first bought the car I did originally have the same tyres on each wheel (Continentals) and the car still veered a bit to the left. So I can only assume it is the BFG "make" of tyres that have made the difference. Try this make of tyre if you get the chance. They look good too. BF Goodrich also seem to be the favoured choice amongst most rally cars.
