All I used was Autoglym clean wheels, nitromorse spray on mousse, plastic paint scraper, a tooth brush for fiddly bits, a £12 halfords 12v polisher and 2 fluffy buffing bonnets and autosol metal polish

BEFORE Dull, brake dust covered and letting my car down

Cleaned wheels fully

Nitromorsed the laquer off and scraped (be patient, dont force the laquer off, redo with stripper again until clear, the least amount of scratching now saves you ten fold when polishing!!!)

Rinsed properly with hose

Polished with autosol metal polish (polish, buff, polish, buff......until happy with finish)

Polished with Belgom alu metal polish as with 1st stage polish (use new polishing bonnet! this stuff is finer than the other and leaves a wax coating that is invisible, protects from salt brake dust etc and keeps mirror finish)

STAND BACK GRINNING AT THE CASH YOU HAVE SAVED AND THE SHINEY NEW RIMS :-d

TOTAL TIME 7HRS £30ish

For cleaning I have Autoglym custom wheel cleaner, its not acid based and is designed for chrome and 'raw' alloy and a quick go over with the other polishes is possible with wheels still on car, cleaning should get easier as you build up a protective layer each time you clean with these products

Sorry forgot to take b4 picture, but they where in the usual rubbish state

Just shows that things arent always as hard to achieve as you might think

I have competitions i polished myself. Autosol them every now and again but the best thing to use is brasso wadding availiable at any hardware stor for 2-3 quid. The good thing is its not abrasive and you dont need anything else so will just remove dullness tarnishing and water stains. After brassoing them spray some lubricant like wd-40 all over them. wd is ok but find one with silicone in it. dry any drips of leave it to dry then just polish with a microfibre cloth. The dirt just falls off next wash then just repeat

i have yet to put my tt comps on' date=' has anyone got any spare centre caps going cheap???

[/quote']

Good luck mate, spares a rare as rocking horse sh1te and cost a mint from main dealer, get ur beady eyes on ebay and cross your fingers, also put a WANT IT NOW advert on ebay, its free and you'd be surprised at the offers you'll get back, ive been lucky a few times using that with bit and pieces in the past, you never know someone might have a mangled set of wheels ready for the bin and pluck them off them, also measure the diameter of what you need and put that on the ad aswell, you might find an alternative off another style of audi wheel

This is the cheapest ive spotted them in a while tho
