andybg40 0
I have just bought a Corrado VR from a mate of mine who has had it for 3 years. When i worked at a tuning company i put it on the rolling road for him and it gave 226bhp at the fly. He bought this car and was told at the time that it had a 3.0ltr engine built from a tuner in Germany, but the guy had lost some paperwork when moving and could not provide a receipt to prove this, that was why i ran it on the dyno for him. My question is this... I have had a standard Rado VR6 before and the power was very smooth and linear, this one however does not get going til about 3,500rpm and really sets off after 4,000 to the redline. Obviously this engine has been tuned to give the power and purely boring to a 3.0ltr would not do this so i am guessing that we are dealing with a flowed head and cams too. Today i took the oil cap off to try and see the cam lobes and get an idea if it does have up-rated items. As far as i am aware all after market cams are not chamfered on the edges, like stock VW items except Schrick (please let me know if there are others) mine are chamfered but with the power delivery they surely cant be standard? Would someone know what Schrick or other cams move the power band up to the 4k region and where i could read the specs. Many thanksAndy
