PEDROX 0
as titled, I think my piston rings have failed so it would be a cheaper option just to change the bottom end. can I fit a 2.9 bottom end onto a AAA 2.8 engine?OR:if I replace it all with a 2.9 lump will the loom need changeing to?OR: if its not the rings and just leaking valve stem seals can I run a 2.9 top end(is there a difference) with AAA inlet on a 2.8 bottom end??depending on what my problem is, eather way its a good oppertunity to upgrade a bit, but money is tight!!....any thoughts??thanks in advance if you can helpPete
VR6BOY 2
Yep you can run a 2.9 bottom end with your 2.8 head both engines are exactly the same, its the electronics that differ between obd1 and obd2 some early engines have a dist changeover was about mid 93.The cheapest option would be find a good motor in a scrappys so you dont need to go changing timing chains gaskets etc providing you find a good motor
jaysVR6 2
I had this exact dilemma when mine popped. I took the 2.9 rebore and upgrade option as the car is mint and I didn't want to place a different engine in it and wanted to keep everything original apart from the capacity! lol
