IbiVR 0
Take off the sprocket on the front cam. You'll need a 15mm socket on 1/2 inch for the bolt inside the sprocket and also a 24mm spanner on the cam. Its tight. Also you should remove the upper chain guide, 2 13mm bolts (dont drop them into the box!).Make sure your 100% happy about timing it back up before you take it off, dont rely on just being able to stick it back on Tom. bakesty 0
cool ok but i had a look at it and it doesnt look like i could get a socket or anything in to undo the front cam sproket. if i lock the cams will i still have to time them?
IbiVR 0
You probably will yes. It can be quite fiddly getting the sproket back on without moving the other cam.Did you take the end plate off the engine? you'll need to do that. its held on by a few (8 i think?)5mm allen key bolts round the side and 2 8mm allen key bolts up from underneath. You will need some gasket sealer to put round it when you put it back on.Tom
bakesty 0
ahh ok didnt think it had an end plate that will make it easier lol. or is it better to turn it to tdc before taking it all of.
IbiVR 0
Like this, The water housing is off here 2, that needs to come off, and i'd use a new seal when it goes back on, or chances are it'll leak.Tom.
IbiVR 0
O, and forgot to say, and quite important! Before you take the end plate off, take out the chain tensionor. It's on the end plate, at the back of the engine, and you'll need a 27mm socket on half inch.Tom.
bakesty 0
your just a genious, gonna get back on it in the moonring thought id rather have a o than give someon £500 to do it. whats best to lock the cams with, sorry for all the questions
IbiVR 0
I wouldnt lock the cams, i'd time it all up again afterwards, wouldnt like your chance of getting the sprocket back on and keeping it all timed. Its very easy to be a tooth out on a vr.Tom.
