Eat this 2
ibivr will be more clued up but i was under the impression 500 bhp was fine with a thicker head gasket to lower the compressionmines running 320 bhp on stock compression and its absolutely fine internally so far
cabrioman 6
oh rite thats cool then so wot kinda system u runnin turbo or charger???
Eat this 2
12 psi vortech supercharger no intercooler stock everything
6potmkII 0
it might make 500bhp, but how long will it last at that, thats the Q? i would say reliablyish 350hp on stock internals. it depends on what route of tuning you take and how much power you want mate, if you want for example 400bhp and a RELIABLE engine, u need to build an engine thats good for say 550bhp. IbiVR 0
Stock engine is quite strong. For a turbo i wouldnt run more than 6psi into a totally stock engine, should get you 270ish bhp. Drop compression a notch or 2 with a spacer and you can run about 15-17 psi, that'll give you about 400bhp.Anymore than that and you need to stick in uprated arp bolts. Use arp main studs and head studs, and use arp rod bolts in the stock rods, and you should be good for 25 ish psi - 550odd bhp, but your are approaching the limit and really as above if your building a 550bhp engine you should really be looking at custom pistons rods.Go for middle ground, drop cr, arp everything, and run up to 20 psi in it and you'll have a good realiable 400bhp engine.Tom. cabrioman 6
400 bhp spudns good to me as im need to take the head off any way to sort out the valve steam seals so as im there i mite as well put the thicked head gasket oand stronger bolts in , wot sot of cams should i run with a turbo or wil starndard be ok ???will i need ot put double valve springs in as well ??? IbiVR 0
I'd stick with the std cams, they are fine for turbo, and no need to uprate valve springs unless your planning big revs.Tom.
cabrioman 6
where abouts can u get all arp stuff from is there a recomended supplier or just hunt around for the cheapest ???
IbiVR 0
Hunt around, you can usually find them on US ebay quite cheaply. Bear in mind you'll probably end up paying vat and duty on stuff bought from the US though.Tom.
