audi a3 1.8 turbo engine problems

happened today on my way home from work, driving along and engine cuts out,

problems are:

1. idle revs on about 500

2. there seems to be a consistant 4 second delay on accelerator under 3000 revs. if i get the engine above 3000 revs and accelerate rapidly on and off, works fine

3. wen accelerator pressed fully, will accelerate to 1500 then pause for a few seconds before continuing upwards,

also keeps cutting out.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Does it seem to be missing at low revs that would be a sign of low compression (piston / ring damage).

Had this on a bike once

I'd agree.. check hoses/pipes for any splits or loose fixings. Had a similar problem on my S3 back in the days... take the rocker cover off and look properly..

not being funny mate but it could be any thing have a chat with a bloke in ur area with a vag computer adn see if there are any faults adn go from there
