Eat this 2
drill the head off??
magic_tree 0
It is possible because I it happened to me. I lost the key socket. I think they drilled them out. I would get a decent power drill and drill it, increasing drill size. Not sure what the nut size is, maybe about 12 to 14 mm. I reckon if you can get close to that then you may be able to get them off.
mike 6
cool just good chance i will slip and dril the wheel, i had thought of that but dont know if i have a drill powerfull enough, il try and lend one thanks guys
magic_tree 0
When you get to the actual solid bit of the nut (ie passed any plated, rotating bits), you will possibly need to use a slow drill speed so it doesn't heat up too much and harden. You could cut a small collar of tubing that will fit into the recess, then if you slip, you shouldn't razz the drill across the wheel, making you very annoyed.

kalv 0
Can't you hammer on a smaller socket and then take it off with some force? You will need a vice or something after to get the bolt out the socket?

xyber 1
I had the same problem on my last car, its a nightmare, but this seemed to be the best plan of attack, it worked for me, but screwed the wheel bearing, but as ur scraping it that dont matterYou need a proper professional wheels socket that you can hammer on over the security nut, get it lined up, get a big hammer and smack it, basically your trying to leave the pattern of the socket on the face of the nut, if it will cut onto the nut, keep hammering, if not get a narrow chisel and chip it to shape, dont take too much off though, you need it tight enough that the socket is hammered on with no movment so keep checking time and time again (if you do go a little to far use araldite, obviously let it set if you do b4 the next step)Next you need an impact wrench, my neighbour has a snap-on beast that I borrowed (350lb torque), but if you cant get one take it to a garage. Basically, wrench away, in the end the head will snap off leaving the stud broken in the hubOr as you have the luxury of binning your car after, teach it a leason, jack it up very securley so you can get right underneath, undo as many associated bolts in the area as you can, disc cutter through the rest, leave the top strut mount till last so its taking all the weight, else you'll end up with the bloodiest video you've been framed has ever seen haha, obviously this is a last resort route, only to be done if your confortable using disc cutters and have a 2nd pair of hands to help you out (do not support the car on this side on anything you'll be cutting away!!! sounds obvious but you'd be surprised what ive seen people do, a bloke under a car with it on axel stands was the best, it was on a slope!!!)Be careful and good luck

saichy 1
i just took mine to midland vw when it happened on my old golf and they got it off without a problem or u could try drilling a left handed thread in the nut then screw a left handed nut into it and when it tightens up it will start to undo the nut. mike 6
Can't you hammer on a smaller socket and then take it off with some force? You will need a vice or something after to get the bolt out the socket?sounds interesting atho bloody time consumin, think AA man has tried something simlar tsaid its hard with this type of nut.(he tried with his tool also)...a normal lockin nut and it would work, this ones dodgy, asl o hammering it would work cus the pins wouldnt go in, there all bent.and saichy...its a rolling empty shell with no bumpers/ steering wheel...anything...so cant take it anywherethe drill idea sounds good atho still doubt it will work....if anyone is in my local area and has any ideas id me most greatful, bit useless on my owncheers
