Have you phoned around for alternative prices?

I had mine done at Stealth Racing last year, with 2.9 litre wossener pistons...

Thing is though, how do you know what state the corrado engine is in if you buy one?? chances are they are also high milers and probably thrashed.

you would be better off spending the money on an an engine you know something about I.E, one that's been rebuilt :)

Only have the 1 engine at the moment (2.9), and that's sitting on the garage floor awaiting a new shell :(

As my BVH was new only a couple of years ago, so just had the bottom end rebuilt as I was getting some heavy piston slap.

It is paintfull, expensive yes. but It will be worth it :)

what exactly is up with your current engine? how many miles has it covered?

the rest of the car from your avatar looks mint, would be a shame to skimp it on the engine :)

2800 is a lot of money, ring around, you should get it cheaper.

I have a 2.9 I could sell. Unsure of mileage, but i know its only 22k since 1998. rebuilt head and mk4 headgasket put in 200 miles ago, guides checked then and were fine.

And got a spare 2.8 for that matter.

Maybe a bit far for you, but pm me if its anygood to you

Tom.

cars is mint Pete mostly, and engine is running but just a little rough and a little blue smoke sometimes. I do 140 miles a day so am thinking about longevity...and also a 100 shot nitrous :P

Just found a place in Chesterfield, http://www.vegeuk.com who will do a reconditioned 12v engine (swap) for 1600 squids...hmm
