mark@vagworx 0
I've got an aftermarket steering wheel and boss to go on the VR. I've also got the airbag resistor from Awesome GTI to fool the ecu into thinking that the airbag is still present. But, does anyone know the proceedure in removing the airbag....cos i don't really want to blow me pinkies off!! Cheers
dubloke 4
basically, to be ultra safe, disconnect the battery and leave for around ten mins! then, on the back of the steering wheel at about 3 & 9 o'clock, you will see two allen key bolts, these attach the airbag to steering wheel! undo and remove the airbag! then its just a case of removing the centre nut on the wheel and removing it and remove the lower steering column cowl to access the resistor wiring and unplug it and plug your new resistor back in! fitting is the reversal of removal, et voila![ Edited Tue Jul 27 2004, 09:55AM ]
binliner 0
If the airbag light comes on even after you've plugged the resistor in then you just need to get the fault code cleared but with the battery disconnected you should be ok
acf8181 0
make sure you store the irbag the correct way up and use new allen key bolts if you ever refit it (thats what it says in my book).let me know if the light comes on after (even with the resisitor) will you?
