Ch0yc3 0
To begin with, I should let you know I have a 97 VR6.When I bought the car there were some issues with the ABS. I think it may be to do with one of the rear sensors, but I haven't yet taken it to a garage with VAGCOM. The first issue I wanted to find out if people could help with is a squeaking - this comes from the rear driver's side wheel area, and is worst when turning on left hand bends. It sounds like squeaking breaks, but there's no shudder or grumble. When I had the car serviced I got the guy to try and sort it out; I think he lubricated the existing wheel bearing, but that hasn't had any effect. Also, my brother and I found there was a little play in the wheel, but I'm not sure if that's the case since the mechanic has had a go at it. What do you think I should do?The second thing is a little worrying, and may have something to do with the ABS issue. I was going at about 60mph when I had to brake relatively hard, as I noticed traffic lining up round a slight bend. I was going in a straight line at this stage, but when applying the brakes the car started swerving rather unnervingly, and it took and fair bit of concentration to control it. What do you think this could mean?Anyway, I hope someone can help, and thanks for reading.
Mk1dubzter 0
The swerving under braking could well be a caliper sticking or binding. The squeaking could be the rear axle bushes rather than anything to do with the bearing .If you want to bring it down I will quite happily take a look at it for you..
